MediCupping Classes
What is MediCupping and How Does It Grow Your Practice?
Cupping is considered a deep-tissue modality. Unlike traditional deep-tissue work that compresses tissue, cupping lifts the tissue. MediCupping uses a vacuum to disperse congestion and create separation between the tissue layers. This can enlarge treatment options to a larger demographic of clientele including petite frames or conditions that would not allow for traditional deep-tissue work.
Additionally, traditional deep-tissue bodywork can be labor-intensive for the practitioner. By using a different muscle group and technique, the massage therapist can reduce fatigue and wear/tear on the joints of the hand and wrist.
By incorporating cupping into a treatment plan, the practitioner can produce both immediate and long-term results regarding many conditions including scar tissue, trigger points, hypertonic tissue, pain from restricted tissue, reduced range of motion, restricted lymphatic flow and circulation, and stress management.
Effective treatment results and positive feedback from clientele will result in “word of mouth” advertising for your practice setting you above the competition.

“Very happy I took this class. I learned so much. Maria is an excellent teacher, I look forward to taking another class with her. Thank you!”
“Maria is a great instructor. I have taken several of her classes and have learned so much. She is a very knowledgeable and thorough instructor. I look forward to adding Medicupping to my practice!”
“After surgery, I had a large scar, extreme swelling, and a deep bruise about five inches in diameter resulting from a lumpectomy. I began seeing Maria once a month for cupping therapy on my breast and surgical site. The discoloration and swelling decreased and the scar tissue softened with each treatment. One year later, I don’t even notice it. It’s absolutely amazing!”

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Massage Cupping?
Massage cupping therapy is a holistic modality with its roots in ancient civilizations. Diversity of culture and innovation through time have metamorphosed this craft into what it is today. Modern cupping techniques are gaining the attention of the medical field with many peer-review studies and research into its effects.
How can taking a MediCupping class help my massage practice?
Massage therapy and deep tissue bodywork can be labor-intensive for the practitioner. Massage cupping uses a negative pressure to lift tissue as opposed to using thumbs, fingers, and elbows to compress tissue. By using a different muscle group and technique, the massage therapist can reduce fatigue and wear/tear on the joints of the hand and wrist.
What’s Up With the Red, Round Circles?
These round circles or marks are called “cup kisses” in the massage world and called petechiae, ecchymosis, or erythema in the medical field. These “cup kisses” can indicate areas of stagnation, restriction, or an increase in blood flow. Problematic tissue can mark quicker than normal, healthy tissue. The type and resiliency of the client’s skin and the practitioner’s technique can play a role as well.
How does Massage Cupping and MediCupping grow your business?
By incorporating Cupping into a treatment plan, the practitioner can produce both immediate and long-term results regarding many pathologies, including but not limited to: scar tissue, trigger points, hypertonic tissue, pain from restricted tissue, reduced Range of Motion, restricted lymphatic flow and circulation, and stress management.
Additionally, cupping is considered deep-tissue bodywork. This bodywork uses a negative pressure or a vacuum to lift tissue which is unlike traditional deep-tissue bodywork that compresses tissue using the body weight and strength of the practitioner. This can open up deeper bodywork to a larger demographic of clientele including petite frames or conditions that would not allow for traditional deep-tissue work.
Effective treatment results and positive feedback from clientele will result in “word of mouth” advertising for your practice setting you above the competition.
So How Does Cupping Work?
Cupping creates a vacuum effect that lifts the tissue away from the body causing separation between the layers of the muscle, fascia, and skin. This separation improves blood flow to the areas where the cups are applied. This circulation helps oxygenate and promote healing while releasing trapped cellular debris within the area cups are applied.
Does Cupping Hurt?
No. Massage cupping therapy is always performed under the guidance of the client with regard to technique and intensity level. In a therapeutic treatment, an ideal intensity is a “hurts so good.” Cupping therapy should never become “hurts so bad” or painful. When a client begins to “guard” against the treatment, the client and practitioner are at odds. It should be noted that post treatment tenderness and transient discomfort can occur from a therapeutic treatment. “Cup kisses” may linger for several days depending on the treatment.
